The Food Science Association has always had the honor of being represented by eminent personalities like renowned food industrialists and academicians. This year it was decided to conduct the inauguration on July21^st, 2010 The Chief Guest for the day was Dr.Jose Joseph, Head, Food Technology, Mar Athanasius College for Science and Technology Thiruvalla. Dr Jose also spoke on the oppurtunites available within the food industry and the shortage of skilled personal. The Association was named as "FLOREATZ" which means "Let it Flourish".

The department decided to honour the Rank holders, the students who got placed and also facilitate the whole class. The same was conducted on the 11^thof June, followed by the interaction with the former students and present batch of students.

Activities of 2009-2011

Orientation Programme
In order to equip the first year students and enable a smooth transformation to proffesionalism a one day Orientation Programme was conducted for the First year students by Mr. Abraham Stephan, Trainer and Director of the Accademy of Excellence, Kottayam.

Full day program on the Topic "Vitamins - Its Impact on the Human Body"
A full day programme was organized for the first years, on the Topic "Vitamins- Its Impact on Human Body  " by Ms. Pinchu Elizabeth Thomas, Senior Lecturer of Macfast College, Thiruvalla. It is a regular programme where external faculties are invited to speak for seminars or lend their expertise on various topics.

Industrial Motivation Campaign
An  Industrial Motivation Campaign was conducted for all students of the college, on 19th October by Micro Small Medium Enterprises Training Institute (MSME-TI), Central Government of India, Ettumanoor. The inaugural session was conducted from 10 Am to 11 Am.  The welcome speeech was by Sri. Binoy Vargheese, (MSME-TI), Ettumanoor. The presidential address was given by Mrs. Anju Cheriyan H.O.D., Food Science Department The Inaugural speech was by the Principal, Dr. Sr. Karuna S.V.M.
Three Technical sessions were held.

Technical Session I:

Topic: Financial Assistance from Lead Bank.         Speaker: Sri. Jayasankar, Manager, State Bank of Travancore.

Technical Session II:

Topic: Assistance from DIC for Entrepreuners. Speaker: Smt. Prasanna Kumari, Industrial Manager, D.I.C.

Technical Session III:
A Former Student of the Department of FoodScience, B.C.M. College, Smt. Anju P., presently working as a Lecturer, Alwa College, Moodahadre, Manglore, Karnataka. spoke on relevent topics of Foodscience.

Poster Competition
On the occasion of "World Food Day" based on the theme "United against Hunger" a poster competition was held for the whole College.

Seminar on Food Safety Management
A Seminar on Food Safety Management by the Director Dr. K.G. Nair, Director, Asian Institute of Food Safety Management and Dr. K. Jacob, Managin Trustee in association with IGNOU.

Class and Interaction by our Former Students
Ms. Anju took a class on the occasion of world food day on the theme "UNITED AGAINST HUNGER" and Ms. Distine Jose had an interaction session with the final year students.
