Literature

The activities of the English Department are coordinated by the English association.Since the starting of the Literature course in 1993, students are elected as president and secretaries to be in charge of the various programmes through out the academic year. Every year the three batches of students bring out a manuscript magazine which is an outlet for their creative instincts. A meeting is arranged and a distinguished personality is invited to release this magazine

The department gives great importance to inculcating social awareness among the students and with this idea in mind, students are taken by the teachers to orphanages or hospitals where they do community service

Since the students study English Language, they willingly take English classes for the primary school students in the campus. They also distribute food for the poor and needy in the premises.

Every batch is kept under the care and guidance of a tutor / mentor. Tutorial sessions are conducted twice a month where, both academic as well as personal grievances are shared with the tutor. Effective remedies are taken during these interactive sessions. The tutor encourages students to take part in various co- curricular activities both in the college and in other institutions.

An add- on course in Communicative English has been going on under the auspices of the English department for the past 5 years. Every year 30 students are admitted and after the completion of the course, they are awarded certificates by the MG University.

The Head of the Department is   the coordinator of a UGC sponsored scheme named Remedial Coaching classes, where the financially needy students get a chance to improve their academic skills as well as get equipped for entry into various services.

The English Association considers it very important that the students develop health awareness. Doctors from near by hospitals are invited to interact with the students on various health related issues.
