Department of English

The Department has two undergraduate programmes in the CBCSS stream; B.A English Literature and B.A Vocational with Administrative Assistant. Both these courses are regular and recognized by the MG University. The first is called Model I programme and the second, Model II. The complementary papers for Model I are Psychology and Evolution of Literary Movements. Model II students have 4 vocational papers, viz. Business Communication, Computer Application, Business Accounting and Office Procedures. All the other papers are common for both the courses. The options for higher studies are the same for both courses.

The Department consists of 8 permanent teachers and 2 guest lecturers. The details of the permanent faculty are available by clicking the respective link.

The student intake is 40 for English Model I and 30 for English Model II. The department aims at both academic excellence and excellence in extracurricular activities. Every year, the Association brings out three manuscript magazines which reveal the creative spirit of the students. Social awareness is inculcated in them by orphanage visits, palliative care training and sharing goods with the needy. The faculty takes a keen interest in all the activities of the students and each class is under the guidance of a tutor/mentor. Academic activities are never compromised in any way, and the proof of this is the university ranks that our students have been getting for the past years.
