Right from the inception of the college in 1955, Malayalam and Hindi has been taught as a Second Language for Pre-Degree and Degree Students. After the seperation of Pre-Degree course from the Colleges  Malayalam and Hindi is taught as a second language for Degree students.    The Malayalam Department and Hindi Department is actively involved in all the literary activities of the college. Every year teachers of the Departments lend their hands to the college union office bearers to conduct Arts Festivals. They also render their services to the students for competing in different items in the University Youth Festival.   All the teaching staff  are editors of the Malayalam section of the College Magazine. The department maintains a very high percentage of results in the University Exams.

Special attention and orientation is given to literally talented students so as to blossom their talents. The department takes special care in correcting their creative literary works and guiding them properly.
