The NSS unit of B.C.M College has earned itself a good reputation by providing community services in the neighbouring villages. The NSS camps create a social awareness and develop leadership qualities in students.

A strong unit of the Catholic Student Movement functions on the Campus. Through regular prayer meetings, meditation and visits to orphanages and old-age homes, it gives a strong social and spiritual awareness to the students.
Life Guidance Course
At the end of the academic year, a course is conducted for the benefit of the final year degree students. Popularly known as 'The Life Guidance Course", this programme aims at equipping the outgoing students to face the future as healthy and efficient housewives or career women. Training in running a home, taking care of children, dealing with family members, crisis management, spiritual values, legal awareness & finance management is what the programme provides. Classes are taken by qualified persons invited from outside. We are happy that this programme is approved by the Church and the community and the certificate awarded at the end of it is recognized as a valuable document.
Outreach activities by Dept.of Social Work The department of Social Work carryout many programmes in the community. The nature of programmes include observation of International days, programmes for awareness creation through different theatre forms and medias, programmes against social evils and social problems and programmes to empower women, children and weaker sections. The department has tie-up with various national and international organisations for implementation of the programmes. Detailed list of activities are given in the profile of Social Work department. BCM OJASS BCM OJASS (Outreach Joint Action to Strengthen Society) is a registered society for undertaking the welfare programmes of the college and outreach programmes of the department of social work. Since its inception in 2009, OJASS has taken up various programmes for the welfare of community. Some of the recently undertaken programmes are: Education and personality development programme for children in Pongampilli tribal settlement in Idukki district, Educational Revolving finance scheme for the studetnts, Project for 'creating a protective environment for the children with special focus against child sexual abuse-supported UNICEF' being implemented in Vijayapuram Panchayat of Kottayam district and Personality development programmes for students in other institutions. |
