B.Sc.Physics UGC Sponsored Two Day Seminar On
'Energy and Environmental Studies'
for College Teachers The Physics Department conducted a UGC sponsored two day workshop on 'Energy and Environmental Studies ' for college teachers on 16th and 17th June 2011 in the College seminar hall. 40 teachers from various colleges actively participated in this seminar.
The inaugural function commenced at 9.30AM with a prayer song. Dr. Marykutty Thomas, HOD of Physics Department welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sr. Karuna, Principal, BCM College presided over the function. Msgr. Fr. Mathew Elapanikal, in his inaugural address, expressed his extreme joy over the fact that the department was conducting this seminar. Mrs. N. Susy Philip, Associate Professor of Physics Department delivered the vote of thanks.
The classes were taken by Dr. Jose Mathew, Associate Professor, S.B College Changanacherry, Dr. Punnen Kurian Associate Professor, Dept of Zoology, St. Mary's college Manarcad, Rtd. Prof. Varkey Mathew, Associate Professor Baselius College Kottayam, Dr. C.A. Sabina, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, BCM College, Dr. Peter K. Mani Associate Professor, Department of Botany, BCM College.
This seminar was a unique one as the topic it dealt with was only recently introduced into the curriculum. The seminar provided valuable insights and perspectives into this highly relevant topic. The concept of sustainability has become a crucial idea in the ecological movement and the lectures of the seminar highlights this issue. |
