Department of Psychology

Psychology was an optional subject for pre-degree, started during the year 1971 in our college. Rev. Dr. Alex Chettiath, who joined the staff on te 8th of June 1970, was the first lecturer in Psychology. After   long period of dedicated service he retired in December 1985. After him, Rev. Dr. Thomas M. Kottoor joind the staff on the 6th of December 1985. He also worked in this institution for a long period. He had gone abroad on leave from 1997 to 2001 and from 2001 to 2003. In his place Smt. Molly K.T. was appointed as lecturer in Psychology. Rev. Dr. Thomas M. Kottoor retired in March 2004 and now he is in the position of the manager of our college. It is with immense gratitude that we remember the great work of both the fathers. Now Smt. Molly K.T. is appointed and working in this department.

During the academic year 1988, the paper General Psychology was accepted by the University as a subsidiary subject for B.A. Economics. In 1994 General Psychology was acepted as subsidiary for English Literature. In this year 1997 - 1998 pre-degree batches were delinked from our college, and noe the subject is only for the degree students.

The department gives emphasis on academic brilliance and teacher-student relationship.
