Classes On Communicative English Inorder to improve the students skills in both writing and speaking in english language, we had arranged classes for the students in our department. Bulletin Board Under the auspices of our association ,students of the department actively took initiative to put socially relevant articles, poem ,quiz etc in the bulletin board in every week. General Quiz Competition A quiz programme was conducted on 27 july 2010 among the students in our association. Akkumol A.S of second year won first prize and Shibumol Mohannan and Chinchu.T.Ram of final year shared the second prize. Elocution Competition
We had conducted malayalam elocution competition among students of our association on the topic 'Njanum Ente Subjectum' (my subject and me) on 13 october 2010.Jesna George of 2nd D.C won the first prize, Alfina Sebastian of 3D.C won the second prize. Excursion
This year final year students along with Mrs.Sheela John and Ms.Gigy Mathew went for three day picnic from 17-19 November to Ooty, Coimbatore and Veegaland. Seminar On 'Importance Of Family life'
On December 2nd 2010, renowned social worker Sr.Joan Chungappura, gave a talk on the topic 'Importance Of Family Life'. The seminar was conducted by the sociology association. Students from History and Economics department also participated in the seminar. Sr. Michael Debate Competition
As in the previous years,this year also we conducted one of the major debate competition in our campus.The topic was 'Sthree Samvarnam Avishyamo Alleyo?'. Students from various departments participated in it. Sociology Day Celebration
We had celebrated January 19th 2011 as the sociology day. It was the 213th birthday of the founding father of sociology Auguste Comte. Our H.O.D, Mrs. Sheela John inaugurated the celebration. As part of the sociology day celebration we had conducted an exhibition in which we exhibited the details of famous sociologists and other details connected with sociology. Counselling -An ' Ongoing activity' Our association is taking initiative in conducting the counselling programme in the college. One of our retired faculty is the counselor. It is conducted thrice in a month.
Other Celebrations Onam Celebrations : Our association celebrated onam by having a grand 'onam sadhya'. Teacher's Day Celebration : We had celebrated teacher's day in the month of september. Teachers were given wonderful gifts. Christmas and New Year Celebration : On January 3rd, the students celebrated christmas and new year and they exchanged gifts with each other. Manuscript Magazine:
The literary talents of the students of our department are expressed through the manuscript magazine. The magazine was published on the farewell day.
Achievements
This academic year was a golden year of our department. Many of our students brought laurels to our department. Vinumol Devassy of 3rd D.C was elected unanimously as the chairperson of the college union 2010-2011. She got the 'Best outgoing Student' award. Vinumol Devassy, Alfina Sebastian and Jesmin Joseph had qualified to participate in the university level competitions. Our students actively participated in the arts fest and sports meet. Sociology association was awarded as the second best association. Our association got second place in the arts fest and sports meet respectively. Community Service
The students of our department visited 'Santhi Bhavan' as part of our community service on January 29th 2011. Valedictory Function
We conducted our valedictory function on 2ndFebruary 2011 during which we released our manuscriptmagazine and gave farewell to our outgoing students. |
